Chapter 18-19- Holden describes the Wicker Bar as sophisticated but he is critical of the people who patronize it. Discuss why you think Holden chose the Wicker Bar as a place to meet Luce.

I think Holden chose the Wicker Bar as a place to meet Luce because Luce was a few years older then Holden and Holden must have wanted to impress Luce. Luce was a smart person and since the Wicker Bar was a sophisticated place he wanted Luce to meet him there so he wouldn't seem like he was still a young boy. Holden really doesn't even like the Wicker Bar because of all the grown people but because of Luce he decided to go there.

Chapter 16-17 -Explain why Holden laughs at Sally while she is angry.

I think Holden laughs at Sally when she is angry because the reaction she gave was not what he expected. Also he probably laughed because he didn't mean to say it and when he tried to apologize she just kept telling him to leave her alone.

Chapter 14-15-Why do you think Holden enjoys talking to the nun?

In my opinion i think Holden enjoys talking to the nuns because he thought one of them was attractive and because they were very nice to him. Holden doesn't have any friends and since the nuns were so nice to him he probably figured it was a good idea to spark up a conversation also because he found a common topic to talk about with one of the nuns.

Chapter 11-12.-Describe Holden's relationship with Jane are they lovers, just friends, or are the more then friends. Explain.

In my opinion based off what i read i believe that Jane and Holden have a more then friends relationship. I believe they have a more then friends relationship because they were always together doing things and playing checkers. Also when Jane's mother's boyfriend came and asked Jane a question and she started to tear up Holden tried to comfort her by giving her kisses all over EXCEPT her mouth because she wouldn't allow him. If they were lovers she most likely would have let him kiss her lips but she didn't, and if they were just friends then i doubt she would have let him kiss her. Also they would always hold hands where ever they went and she wouldn't mind it if his hands were sweating or not.

Chapter 9-Why do you think Holden is so concerned with the wealth fare of the ducks in central park during the winter?

I think Holden is so concerned with the Wealth fare of the ducks in central park during the winter because the little lake they are usually in freezes up  and he probably wonders where they go or whether someone cares enough to come take them away.

Chapter 6 and 7.In your judgement, how does Holden feel about leaving Pencey? Explain your answer with specific details.

In my judgement i don't really think Holden wanted to leave Pencey but since he started to feel very lonely and sad there he decided that maybe leaving Pencey was the best thing to do. Holden said he wanted a vacation anyway and after Stradlater got into their fight Holden didn't really want to be there and he left Pencey four days before he was suppose to. Before Holden left Pencey that Saturday night he was sort of crying but covered it up by yelling out "Sleep tight, ya morons!".

Chapter 3 and 4.Describe your understanding of Holden's relationship with Allie and Jane Gallagher.

From my understanding, Holden had a really good relationship with his brother Allie. Allie died when Holden was just 13 and it seriously effected Holden. Holden really loved his older brother and his brothers death really caused him to isolate himself from everyone else. Holden's relationship with Jane Gallagher is not that strong but he seems to have a crush on her. Holden knew Jane for some time and after hearing her name from Stradlater he couldn't stop thinking about her and talking about her.

Describe the relationship between Holden and Mr.Spencer. Is it personal, caring or simply a professional relationship between a teacher and student? Explain.

The relationship between Holden and Mr. Spencer is actually kind of caring and personal. Although Mr.Spencer was one of Holden's Professors at school he still cared about what Holden was doing with his life. Mr.Spencer lectured Holden about what he basically  was going to do in life if he just kept getting kicked out of schools. Also Chapter 2 shows their relationship as more caring and personal because Mr.Spencer actually sent Holden a letter knowing that he wanted him to stop by and say goodbye before he left. Mr.Spencer also seemed very comfortable around Holden. Normally a student and Teacher relationship is more strict and they don't really visit each others homes, but it was different for Mr.Spencer and Holden.
